This WD Purple surveillance hard drive (18TB) is engineered specifically for 24x7 video surveillance recording in NVR and DVR systems, built to withstand the elevated heat fluctuations and equipment vibrations typical of always-on security environments. WD's exclusive AllFrame technology helps reduce frame loss and improve video playback across multiple camera streams, and the drive carries an MTBF rating of up to 1 million hours for continuous operation. It's rated for workloads well above a standard desktop drive, since WD Purple drives are built for the harsh 24/7 always-on environment of a high-definition surveillance system rather than the short-interval use of a typical PC drive. Backed by a 3-year limited warranty. Model WD180PURZ specifically ships with SATA 6Gb/s.
