HID's Signo 40 Pigtail Smart Card Reader with Smart Profile (40NKS-02-00207N) reads credentials at the door and reports each read to the access control panel, which decides whether to release the lock. Being mobile ready, it can also accept credentials carried on a smartphone. OSDP gives two-way, supervised communication between the reader and the controller.
