PowerSeries NEO is DSC’s newest line of quality security systems that offers not only a wide range of hardwire solutions but also DSC’s new PowerG series of wireless devices. This makes the DSC PowerSeries NEO the most comprehensive hybrid security system in the industry. The NEO systems can be used in residential applications or can also be scaled up to meet large commercial applications as well.

The PowerSeries NEO HS2064NK is the successor to the PowerSeries PC1864 which was previously the largest of the PowerSeries alarm systems. The HS2064NK is the second largest of the PowerSeries NEO panels though. It has 8 hardwired zones built onto the panel out-of-the-box. The DSC HSM2108 expansion board can be added to the NEO panel to add 8 additional hardwired zones. Using 7 of the HSM2108 modules, you can add 56 additional hardwired zones to a maximum of 64 hardwired zones. The HS2064’s 64 zone limit is not just limited to hardwired zones though. With the addition of a PowerG transceiver module, the HSM2HOST9, the HS2064 becomes a hybrid alarm system with both hardwired and wireless capabilities. The 64 zones can be any combination of hardwired and wireless zones. With 64 zones, the NEO HS2064 is a very versatile system that can be used for large homes and many commercial settings.

As an upgrade over the 2 smaller PowerSeries NEO panels, the HS2064 has 4 onboard PGM output terminals. PGM 2 is still the high-current output with 300mA available. PGM terminals 1, 3, and 4 are all limited to 50mA of current. These are most commonly used with smoke detectors. And in many new constructions, smoke detectors are required to have sounders and when any one of them is triggered: all smoke detector sounders need to go off in sync with each other. To accomplish this we offer the System Sensor Reversing Relay Module (RRS-MOD). The RRS-MOD utilizes 2 PGM outputs. PGM 2 provides the standard power and sensor reset. PGM 1 activates the RRS-MOD’s polarity reversal to activate the sounders on all connected smoke detectors. Even with 1 of the reversing relays taking up 2 of the PGM outputs, the HS2064 will still have 2 additional PGM outputs. If you still need more, the NEO panel has expansion room for up to 80 PGM outputs using 8 of the HSM2208 and 3 of the HSM2204 modules. Each HSM2208 provides 8 additional low-current PGM outputs. Each HSM2204 provides 4 additional high-current PGM outputs AND 1A of additional power. The HSM2204 does require its own power transformer and backup battery.

The HS2064 is no exception to DSC’s partitioning excellence. It can be split into 8 different partitions. Each partition can be armed separately. And each of the panel’s 94 user codes can be assigned to certain partitions. This makes it great for an incredible number of applications. For instance a warehouse with an office area may want to be able to arm the warehouse portion separately from the office section. And maybe even different offices within that need to be armed separately. But if any one of the partitions goes into alarm, the entire system would follow suit.

Probably the biggest upgrade for the PowerSeries NEO is its PowerG wireless technology. PowerG wireless provides numerous benefits over the previous generation of wireless technology. It has exceptional battery life of up to 8 years thanks to its adaptive transmission power feature. It has amazing range of up to 1.24 miles (2km); although it will be lower in practice after going through various structures. And it can circumvent jamming by jumping to a different frequency. DSC has put together a comprehensive line of PowerG wireless devices. And it has expanded their PowerSeries compatibility to cover things like wireless keypads and sirens that was previously only available for some of their all wireless systems. The PowerG sirens can be an excellent option on the HS2064, especially because the HS2064 may be used on a larger building that may need additional sirens to cover the entire premise. DSC has made 2 PowerG sirens available: the indoor PG9901 and the outdoor PG9911B. The PG9901 indoor PowerG siren is very attractive, requires no wiring, and puts out 85dB at 10 feet. The PG9911B outdoor PowerG siren has the same level of output as the indoor siren, but also features a blue strobe light to draw even more attention.

Thanks, in part, to the upgraded hardware in the PowerSeries NEO line of panels and keypads; the programming has also received a sizable upgrade. While it is still not as easy as to program as the all-in-one wireless touchscreen systems like the DSC Touch or Honeywell Lynx L7000, it stands well above its PowerSeries predecessor. Which also makes it the easiest of our traditional hardwired alarm systems to program. DSC has combined programming sections so that they are organized much more intuitively. They have also made it so that the programming can be navigated much more easily using the HS2LCD or similar style keypads, which we always recommend having for programming.

This version of the HS2064NK is CP01 compliant and has all the fail safes in place to help protect against false alarms. You will not be able to pick values for some programming sections below a certain value such as the entry/exit delays. Keep in mind that this is the board and cabinet only and you will need a transformer and backup battery to go with it.
