The TS-1685 16-Bay NAS Enclosure from QNAP is a high-capacity, robust, and reliable business NAS designed to help optimize IT infrastructure. It incorporates security and stability so that users may build a complete business-ready storage solution with cross-platform file sharing, comprehensive backup and disaster recovery, iSCSI & virtualization, and more.

The TS-1685 is powered by a 2.2 GHz Intel Xeon D-1531 Six-Core processor and 64GB of 2133 MHz DDR4 non-ECC RAM, which can be upgraded to 128GB by using one 32GB module in each of the four DIMM slots. Network connectivity is achieved using the four Gigabit Ethernet ports and two 10 Gigabit Ethernet ports, and there is also the option of adding 40GbE adapters via one of the three PCIe expansion slots, which include two PCIe 3.0 x8 slots and one PCIe 2.0 x4 slot. This NAS also supports JBOD and a variety of RAID modes, including RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, and hot spare, each of which offer data redundancy, speed, or a combination of both. This 16-bay enclosure has the ability to natively house both 3.5" and 2.5" SATA III hard drives or SSD drives. There are 12 drive bays that can accept both 3.5" and 2.5" drives, and there are also four dedicated 2.5" SATA III drive bays and six M.2 SATA III slots for data caching, with supported M.2 form factors including 2242, 2260, 2280, and 22110. The TS-1685 can reach a sequential throughput of up to 2339 MB/s when reading and up to 1974 MB/s when writing, when using a dual 10GbE connection. Using its three 5 Gb/s USB 3.0 Type-A ports, this QNAP NAS can be connected to other QNAP devices, as well as other external drives and peripherals. Additionally, the TS-1685 is validated with FIPS 140-2 AES 256-bit encryption, helping to prevent sensitive business data from unauthorized access and breaches.

Using QNAP's tiered storage functionality, storage efficiency is optimized across M.2 SSDs, SATA SSDs, and SATA HDDs. Frequently-used "hot" data is stored on high-performance SSD tiers, while less-accessed "cold" data is kept on higher-capacity hard drives. Auto Tiering helps to further optimize storage across the M.2 SSDs, 2.5" SSDs, 3.5" HDDs, and optional PCIe SSDs. On Demand Allocation Priority also helps to arrange tiered storage so it's better suited for your system environment and application demands.

The QNAP TS-1685 16-Bay NAS Enclosure operates on 100-240 VAC, 1.5-3.0 A, and 50-60 Hz. It uses a 250W power supply and includes four Gigabit Ethernet cables, two 10 Gigabit Ethernet cables, a power cord, two M.2 SSD heatsinks, twelve flat head screws for 2.5" drives, and four flat head screws for M.2 SSDs. Protection is provided by a limited 3-year warranty.
